Pimm has chosen to screen The Truman Show because of its demonstration of the construction of one reality–Seahaven, a town-sized television set–inside another–the real world where everyone is watching the show.

She will create large trompe l’oeil windows, each with an image of a sunset as seen from Alicudi, the Island in the Aeolian archipelago where Martin Creed lives for part of the year. An often-cited reason for Truman (the oblivious star of the reality show) to stay in Seahaven is that it has the most beautiful sunsets in the world. In the final scene when he attempts to leave the island by boat he rips a hole in the sky.

Pimm’s work often takes banal living experiences and domestic materials as a starting point, and she has used this opportunity to respond directly to the domestic setting of the exhibition. The show will occupy the whole apartment, including the kitchen and bathroom, where work will echo the film’s parody of product placement.
